Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, a subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, has introduced GTPay, a web-based fee collection platforms for University of Ghana (UG), Regent University College of Science and Technology (RU) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), in Ghana, to enable the respective institutions collect fees online from international students.
GTPay, is an integrated and secure online gateway that enables corporate clients such as hotels, airlines, churches, schools, supermarkets etc accept payments on their websites. It is an internet-based solution that facilitates the use of local and international cards such as MasterCard and VISA for online payments. The main benefit of the platform to both the customer and the Merchant is that the it provides a convenient alternative for cash payment for customers as the transacted amount is debited from the customer’s account with a corresponding credit to the merchant’s account instantly.
For the University of Ghana and Regent University College, these solutions would provide platforms for ‘‘online’’ payments for tuition, exam registration, graduation fees and application forms for schools in Ghana.
The GTPay platforms has been customized for different the institutions outlined above i.e. ‘’UGPay” for University of Ghana, “RU-Pay” for Regent University College and WAEC-Pay for WAEC. They all provide an alternative channel for prospective and existing Nigerian students, parents, guardians and alumni residing outside Ghana to pay for services by these institutions.
Commenting on this development, the Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr. Lekan Sanusi stated that “Convenience, reliability, innovation and financial security have been part of the guiding principles for deploying this solution for all the institutions”. “We are pleased to launch this service as it would help address some of the challenges faced by Nigerian parents and students residing outside Ghana during payment of fees to the respective institutions”, he added.
