A significant share of the bank's earnings has been used to support education over the years because of our conviction that quality education is important for any individual or societal advancement. This conviction influenced the initiation of the Adopt-a-School programme in 2004 when the Bank adopted St. Georges Boys and Girls primary schools, Falomo, Lagos.
The Adopt-a-School programme is a Guaranty Trust Bank initiative aimed at improving child education across the country. The thrust of the project involves identifying, adopting, renovating and rehabilitating dilapidated public schools nationwide; thereby creating model institutions of learning for children.
After adopting a school, the Bank undertakes the following to improve conditions of learning:
Principals Cup
This competition currently runs across secondary schools in Lagos and Ogun states
Players Development Program
Exceptional football players discovered during tournaments are refined during the Players’ Development Programme.
You Read Initiative
The YouRead initiative shows that learning is a lifelong experience that should be enjoyed by everyone, young and old.
