GTBank Releases 2017 Half Year Audited Results... Reports Profit before Tax of ₦101.1Billion

Lagos, Nigeria – August, 2017 Guaranty Trust Bank plc has released its audited financial results for the half year ended June 30, 2017 to the Nigerian and London Stock Exchanges. A review of the half year performance, shows positive growth across all key financial metrics and improved strategic positioning of the brand. Gross earnings for the period grew by 2% to ₦214.1billion from ₦209.9billion reported in the June 2016; driven primarily by growth in investment securities income as well as income from risk assets. Profit before tax stood at ₦101.1billion, representing a growth of 18% over ₦85.69billion recorded in the corresponding period of June 2016.The Bank’s loan book dipped by 6% from ₦1.590trillion recorded as at December 2016 to ₦1.491trillion in June 2017 and customer deposits decreased by 1% to ₦1.966trillion from ₦1.986trillion in December 2016. GTBank Deploys GTPay for University of Ghana, Regent University and WAEC

Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, a subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, has introduced GTPay, a web-based fee collection platforms for University of Ghana (UG), Regent University College of Science and Technology (RU) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), in Ghana, to enable the respective institutions collect fees online from international students.

GTPay, is an integrated and secure online gateway that enables corporate clients such as hotels, airlines, churches, schools, supermarkets etc accept payments on their websites. It is an internet-based solution that facilitates the use of local and international cards such as MasterCard and VISA for online payments. The main benefit of the platform to both the customer and the Merchant is that the it provides a convenient alternative for cash payment for customers as the transacted amount is debited from the customer’s account with a corresponding credit to the merchant’s account instantly.

For the University of Ghana and Regent University College, these solutions would provide platforms for ‘‘online’’ payments for tuition, exam registration, graduation fees and application forms for schools in Ghana.

 

The GTPay platforms has been customized for different the institutions outlined above i.e. ‘’UGPay” for University of Ghana, “RU-Pay” for Regent University College and WAEC-Pay for WAEC. They all provide an alternative channel for prospective and existing Nigerian students, parents, guardians and alumni residing outside Ghana to pay for services by these institutions.

Commenting on this development, the Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr. Lekan Sanusi stated that “Convenience, reliability, innovation and financial security have been part of the guiding principles for deploying this solution for all the institutions”. “We are pleased to launch this service as it would help address some of the challenges faced by Nigerian parents and students residing outside Ghana during payment of fees to the respective institutions”, he added.
